U-Boote

Models of WW2 German U-Boats.

Ever since the movie "Das Boot" I've had more than a passing interest in German U-Boats. Never bought a model of one at the time.
As a result of my fascination with the movie I was also interested in U-boat simulators on the PC. Actually, the first simulator (game actually) I played was on a Philips MSX computer, which a friend of me owned. Can't remember the name of the game though.
Than there was "Command: Aces of the Deep" on the PC, which I must have played for countless hours.
After that the gaming was a bit slow until "Silent Hunter III" arrived. And especially with all the expansions by the community this was truly a great and (for me) very captivating game.
Around the same time Revell released their first U-Boat kit in 1/72 scale. It was the famous VIIC U-boat featured in the movie Das Boot.
Later they also released the "Atlantic Version" of the same boat. And MPM started making other types of U-boats, which I also bought.

I've already started the "normal" version of Revell's VIIC type U-boat, but don't have a build report yet.

  • 1/72 Deutsches U-Boot VIIC (Revell 05015)
