News of 2008
2008, August 1
Once again, it's been some time since the previous update.
Same reason as before. I've spent more time on gaming (GTR2 to be precise) than on building models.
Luckily I have now two weeks off as the company I work for is closed during the summertime. And now I've got a bit more time on my hands to combine modeling with gaming.
I still haven't finished a single model. But I'm getting close now. The Jaguar Mk. II Saloon and the Peugeot 307 WRC are nearing completion.
I plan to take at least one of those two models to Euro Scale Modeling in Nieuwegein on October 17. With a bit of luck I'll have both cars ready in time... But than again, last year I was certain that I would be bringing the Ferrari F430 along to the contest. But in the end things went a bit differently.
Since the last update I've been working on the following models:
If you're a regular visitor you'll notice that there's no work done on either the Jaguar XJ220 and the Ferrari F430. Especially the Ferrari appears to need some more work on the finish. There's still some orangepeel visible which is very hard to get rid of, sadly.

It's been some time since my last update. My modeling activities have been put a bit on the back burner because I've taken up gaming a bit more.
I recently upgraded my PC with a new mobo, graphics card and some other stuff. So now I'm finally able to play games like BioShock, Elder Scrolls IV and Crysis at full detail without stroboscope vision...
And apart from that, a colleague managed to get me excited about the Project Reality mod for Battlefield 2. So, many evenings I spent modeling previously have now been sacrificed for some (on-line) gaming.
That's not to say that the modeling has come to a full stop.
I have been building and working on and off on all of my projects. But I must admit that I still haven't finished one of them. But to compensate for that, I just started another one...
The build reports for the following projects have been updated:
And the build report for my newest project, the Benetton B190B F1 race car, driven in the first two GP's of 1991 by Nelson Piquet, can be found here.

I finally had the guts to cover the Ferrari F430 with clear. The first results of this undertaking can be seen in the Build Report (link below).During covering the Ferrari in clear I noticed that the visibility in my hobby room was reduced to just several centimeters. And it was not because my specs were fogged.
It appears that, in certain situations, the fans in my spray-cabin don't have the capacity to extract all the paintfumes and overspray.
So I had a new task. I had to find a new fan which would be able to extract a sufficient amount of air from the spray-booth.
Thanks to this article on Brian's Model Cars I was able to calculate the desired amount of air the new fan should be able to extract.
After a bit of searching I found a fan which meets my requirements and all I have to do now is upgrade my spray booth.
I also did some more work on Inspector Morse's Jaguar and on the XJ220. Results can be seen on the build report pages.

First update in 2008.The layout of the Modeling-menu of the site has been changed slightly because I decided to start another project, apart from the Minardi and Nelson Piquet projects.
At the end of last year, the Stobart VK World Rally Team announced that they had appointed Gigi Galli as their no. 1 driver, following the departure of Jari-Matti Latvala to the Ford works team.
The news of the signing of Galli was a nice surprise. And a very welcome one, as it is a shame that a spectacular and good driver like Galli was missing from the WRC rallies (apart from 3 rallies in 2007).
Same applies to Francois Duval and Toni Gardemeister. Gardemeister is now a works Suzuki driver and Duval will at least appear in the Monaco rally later this month, as Gigi Galli's teammate.
I'm definately looking forward to the start of the Rally season.
But back to the homepage now.
The modeling section has been slightly changed as I mentioned and now a button "Projects" is added, whereas the Minardi and Nelson Piquet have been moved to the separate Projects page.
Just click on the links and find out !
Sadly, I've been ill several days during the holidays so I didn't do as much work on the models as I had planned to.
But work has been done anyway, and the following pages have received an update:
